Groot Constantia Sauvignon Blanc 2023

The Groot Constantia Sauvignon Blanc is a typical Sauvignon Blanc from the Constantia area in the Western Cape of South Africa. It was left for six months to mature on the lees and is some of the last wines by Boela Gerber, before he left Groot Constantia.

This wine has a pale-yellow colour with a green tinge. It is forthcoming on the nose with tropical fruit hints, bell peppers and freshly cut grass. On the palate, it delivers less of the pepper and grass (than some previous vintages) but more nuanced notes of white peaches, gooseberries, lemon and passion fruit come forward. It remains fresh and crisp throughout, with a medium finish.

This wine has a great ageing potential and can be drunk anytime between now and the next 20 years. It is best served cold and in a smaller glass. It will make a great welcome drink on its own, but also work well with seafood, chicken or non-acidic salads. This is a good wine that should be tried by Sauvignon Blanc lovers.
