The Hamilton Russell Chardonnay is one of the two varieties (together with Pinot Noir) that is produced by this prestige producer. It has a light-yellow colour with a bright golden hue. It is forthcoming on the nose with prominent flavours of lemon, lime, as well as softer tones of white pear and a hint of vanilla.
When you taste this wine, you would not say that it spent 9 months in various, carefully selected, wooden barrels. It is extremely fresh and crisp with a well-integrated acidity, fruit-forward with stone fruit, lemon, lime and white pear, and a mineral finish with a hint of fresh herbs. The freshness and minerality linger for long in this complex wine with a medium body. It is ideal for all occasions, from a food pairing to a warm summer’s afternoon.
I really enjoyed this wine and I look forward to see how it age over time or to do a vertical tasting with a few vintages of this great wine. It comes at a steep price, but it is certainly worth it. Highly recommended.
This wine is vegan friendly. Only 3700 cases of 12 bottles each have been released this year.
