The Maraai Rosé from Le Pommier has a light amber colour with a rose gold hue. It is slightly shy on the nose but offers some fruity notes upon a gentle swirl. Strawberries and gooseberries are prominent on the nose. Although this wine is not complex, it is fruit-forward. It has a soft entry on the palate and the acidity is well integrated. This causes a long-lasting freshness of this wine. It follows through as a light-bodied wine and the strawberries and gooseberries become more prominent. It does not have a long finish but the exit is fresh and fruity.
Maraai refers to Marietjie van der Merwe, the mother and grandmother of the family. This vibrant wine was named after her. This is the ideal wine for a warm summer’s afternoon with some carpaccio and basil.
