The Three Barrel Shiraz from Lord’s Wines are made from 16 selected rows of Shiraz that spend 36 months in 100% new French Oak barrels. It has a deep purple colour with a garnet centre. On the nose, it offers complexity with some red and black berries, spices and violets. On the palate, the first entry is soft, developing into a more complex wine with berries, dark cherries, white pepper, smokiness, mocha, and an aftertaste of dark chocolate. Hints of gunflint and smoke come through over time.
This wine is complex and strongly defined. I recommend that it is enjoyed with a smoked brisket or leg of lamb. This wine has a good ageing potential and will probably be enjoyed best about 5 years from now.
