Meerlust Chardonnay 2021

The Meerlust Chardonnay is one of those wines that I can identify from smelling it a mile far. It is so fragrant and florally, that I decided to use this wine in tastings and workshops where the focus is on bouquet. You do not need to be proficient in tasting wine in order to appreciate the smell or taste of this wine: it is so powerful that there is nothing shy about this wine.

It has a bright pale yellow colour and on the nose you are treated with flowers, peach, flowers, lemon zest, flowers, almonds and flowers. The entry is smooth and sweet on the tip of the tongue, a crisp acidity and with a lasting freshness. On the palate, this Chardonnay is perfectly balanced with primary notes of pear and citrus, and secondary notes of vanilla. Although there are traces of wood, the freshness is not compromised, and it is well balanced in terms of wood. It ends with a soft aftertaste of white flowers, lime and minerality.

This Chardonnay is certainly among the best Chardonnays that I have tasted over the past year. I will highly recommend this wine, it is a must try!
