Spier Brut MCC 2020

When I think about Spier wines, I do not necessarily think of an MCC – and that is a mistake! This MCC by Spier is exactly what it promises to be, right from the label: elegance. This wine has a straw yellow colour with a green hue. It is forthcoming on the nose with notes of green apples, lemon, and fresh biscotti. Upon entry, the bubbles are strikingly elegant and it develops well on the palate, adding more lemon, white peaches and hints of green herbs to the palate. The acidity is fresh right from the start and it remains fresh throughout.

This wine is a real crowd-pleaser because it is fruity and elegant. With 90% of the whole-bunch pressed juice fermented in stainless steel tanks and 10% in French oak barrels, the winemaker achieved a great balance and depth. The wine matured on the lees for 23 months to add a soft mouthfeel and elegance to this wine.

The Spier Brut MCC is the ideal wine to celebrate any occasion and, because it is such a crowd-pleaser, it will certainly be a hit! It will go well with canapes, starters, shellfish, chicken or simply as a palate cleanser for a tasting platter. This is a vegan-friendly wine.
