Vin Par Essie Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Writer's picture: Jaco MeyerJaco Meyer

The Vin Pas Essie Winery is owned by Esser Banda from Namibia, taking huge pride in the Namibian ownership of the farm located in Stellenbosch. With the Namibian flag displayed on the back of the bottle and the emphasis on the Namibian owner, consumers could get confused to think that this is a Namibian wine, but it is important to place the origin of the wine in Stellenbosch, South Africa. With a focus on sparkling wines, one Sauvignon Blanc and one red blend, they have an interesting portfolio of wines and do amazing work to underprivileged people in Namibia through the Esba Pendukeni Foundation by donating a portion of their profit to this charity organisation.

In the glass, this wine has a pale-yellow colour. It is forthcoming on the nose with tropical fruit notes, such as pineapple, stone fruit and green apples. On the palate, it has a fresh entry but unfortunately does not remain fresh and fruity, with some of the more elegant tropical fruit flavours moving to the background, bringing forward lemon and green fig flavours. It has a high acidity, medium alcohol and a long stone mineral finish.

This wine should be served chilled well and will work well with a creamy chicken dish or seafood platter. It is ready to be drunk now.
